Full-Time Network Technician -- Iowa Lakes Regional Water is a United States–based water and wastewater utility organization focused on providing reliable regional water and wastewater services and related infrastructure. The Network Technician will develop, plan, and implement an information technology (IT) strategy that meets the business needs, delivers optimal return on investment, and maintains utmost security.

Learn new field concepts, practices, and procedures. Excellent ability to conceptualize long-term business goals and develop orderly processes to accomplish those goals. Thorough understanding of information technology and information technology systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, and File Server. Microsoft 365 Administrator. Windows Desktop Operating Systems. Networking fundamentals. Remote Desktop Services. Backup and recovery. Cybersecurity best practices. FortiGate firewall programming. Site to site VPN management. Site to multisite VPN management. SCADA system administration & programming. Strong troubleshooting skills to fix unknown issues.

Desired Minimum Qualifications: At least 5 years of experience in administration of information systems and technology, with increasing level of responsibility throughout. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Information Technology preferred. Two year degree in technology required, relatable work experience may substitute for degree.

This position requires Driver remain insurable under the Organization’s coverage. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as in a vehicle. Walking on uneven surfaces. Capable of being in various weather elements for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Collaborate with the executive team to identify ways IT can assist the organization in achieving business and financial goals. Utilize experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Identifies new Information System developments and technologies; anticipates resulting organizational modifications. Ensures that IT and network infrastructure adequately support the organization’s computing, data processing, and communications needs. Develop and implement the IT budget. Communicates goals, projects, and timelines of the organization to the department; plans ways to execute those goals within the department. Establishes long-term IS needs and plans and develops strategies for developing systems and acquiring software and hardware necessary to meet those needs. Assists as top-level contact for end users in determining IS requirements and/or solutions. Ensures compliance with government regulations that apply to systems operations. Design, install, configure, maintain, and support internal infrastructure systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Troubleshoot network, server, and system performance issues. Create and maintain disaster recovery plans. Recommend upgrades, patches, new applications, and equipment. Provide technical support and guidance to users. Demonstrate a wide degree of creativity, latitude, and time management skills to execute projects and accomplish department and organization goals. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Full-Time Seasonal Utility Personnel -- Launch your fulfilling career at Iowa Lakes Regional Water as a full-time seasonal utility employee. Experienced equipment operators and utility laborers are welcome to apply for the upcoming season and beyond. Use your knowledge, skill sets and abilities while improving the quality of life for rural residents and businesses by preparing, installing and maintaining water and wastewater pipelines and structures.

Required essential functions include, not limited to a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of water and wastewater systems, equipment and structures. Using hand/power tools, ascending/descending machinery and trenches, communication skills, assessing project progress and documentation, transporting materials to and from job sites. Knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities associated with public works operations. Must be able to speak and write fluently in the English language. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to work independently and to conduct and complete daily, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual tasks according to work schedules and other time constraints. Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to municipal public works activities. Working knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools used in modern equipment and facilities maintenance. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to understand and conduct written and oral instructions. Must be physically capable of moving about on various construction type work sites and under adverse field conditions.

Desired Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. A valid driver’s license is required with the ability to acquire a CDL. Will require new employees to obtain grade 1 water distribution and treatment licenses.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee usually works outside in varying weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is customarily exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in an office setting and moderate to very noisy when in a field setting.
